چکیده

This paper discusses the effectiveness of an Active Structural Acoustic Control (ASAC) system for the reduction of impact noise, radiated by structures with a high modal density in the controlled frequency range. Although there is a significant difference in nature between periodic and transient noise, up till now no specific research on ASAC of transient noise was reported. This paper focuses on the design of control algorithms, adapted to the specific properties of impact noise. Since many industrial impact noise problems involve successive impacts with a repetitive behaviour, control algorithms with a learning behaviour are discussed. The efficiency of these Iterative Learning Control (ILC) algorithms is demonstrated extensively in this paper. The developed ASAC strategy has been verified on a thick steel plate, which is excited by successive impacts. The obtained results show that ASAC can be a very efficient transient noise control technique in certain industrial applications (e.g. presses, punching machines,...).

Active structural acoustic control of impact noise

Industrial machines like punching machines and presses can generate structure-borne impact noise, with noise levels exceeding the tresholds, imposed by legal regulations on noise emission. This paper presents an approach of non-collocated active structural acoustic control of transient noise, produced by a repetitive impact excitation. Although there is a significant difference in nature betwee...

Active Noise Control in Pardis Coach using Different Fuzzy Controllers

In recent years, need to increase the convenience of trips in railway vehicles causes that train operators and manufacturers focus on reducing the noise level which is sensed by passengers. In this paper, first the state of modeling acoustic noise in cab train is discussed and natural frequencies and acoustic mode shapes are derived and then formulation of acoustic pressure in the cab will be o...

Filtered-X LMS versus repetitive control for active structural acoustic control

This presentation investigates Active Structural Acoustic Control (ASAC) of rotating machinery with high modal density, by placing actuators as close as possible to the noise source. For this purpose, an experimental set-up has been built, as discussed in [3]. The set-up consists of a shaft supported by two bearings, of which one is made “active” by mounting piezo-actuators around it, to influe...

Compact and Efficient Active Vibro-acoustic Control of a Smart Plate Structure

An effective wide band active control law through one kind of the Dynamic Vibration Absorber (DVA) is proposed and studied in this paper. With the help of mechanical impedance method, active DVA control law is formulated based on the passive mechanical model. The electrical DVA can generate multi-mode active damping to the structure. The host structure is an aluminum plate and acceleration sign...

Filtered-X LMS vs repetitive control for active structural acoustic control of periodic disturbances

This paper presents a comparison of repetitive control and narrowband filtered-X LMS feedforward control, both applicable in the field of active structural acoustic control (ASAC) and active noise control (ANC) of periodic disturbances. This can be useful for example in rotating machinery, where the disturbance is often determined by the rotational speed. A frequency domain relation between the...
